Risk, Courage and Surrender Today

Risk and courage are the hallmarks of these perilous times that we live in today, and for those that choose to play it safe…. They will lose their life anyway. Besides a life absent of risk is merely existence, and not the real the lavish experience that God desired this brief moment in time called life to be. -

Before Jesus Christ found me, Risk was a word that I lived by every moment of every day by, and I see now that I have let the pendulum swing too far to the other side. The best and most Godly people and gifts that Jesus gives us in this world are going to be risky, and I see that clearly now. I wish I could turn back the hands of time, but perhaps this is just about God turning it forward? We dream, we risk, we hope, and we risk, we walk the path that God has set before us, and we risk everything, but the gain is the joy of our Father.

Ecclesiastes 11:3-6
He who observes the wind will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap. As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything. In the morning sow your seed, and at evening withhold not your hand, for you do not know which will prosper, this or that, or whether both alike will be good.

I have never really been in love until this last year and a half, and I see for the first time in 47 years that LOVE truly is the riskiest journey you can embark on. I see it (as best human eyes can) at the macro level in how Jesus loves us, and now that I have felt love I see it at the raw, insecure human level that brings us to our most vulnerable selves. I have spent the last 2 months a very broken man on many levels, and the only one I have to depend on is Jesus Himself, but I feel strength and courage rise as I write my heart on this blog, and know that God grants us the desires of our hearts.

Mark 11:23-24

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say unto you, what things so ever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Psalms 37: 4-5
Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.

Some things in this world are well worth the fight it takes to win them, and God grants us the wisdom and discernment to know what battles to lay our swords to, and what battles to let Him win and sustain. As much as I want to fight for the prize I desire this day, I relinquish it to The Lord tonight and leave it in His very capable and very loving hands.
